Wireless Festival - Jay-Z returns to Hyde Park

Wireless fans you excited yet?? Yes, we can finally reveal that music megastar, rap legend and one half of the world's biggest urban power couple, Jay-Z, will be headlining Sunday night at this year's Wireless sponsored by Barclaycard! Swapping the concrete jungles of the Empire State for the lush fields of Hyde Park, the jigga man joins pop princess P!nk to head up this year's festival! As if that's not enough, we can also confirm that Supernova hitmaker, and Jay-Z collaborator Mr Hudson has also been added to the Sunday line up. Will they get together for a rendition of Young Forever? We can only hope..

Wireless Festival - Lily Allen joins line-up

Lily Allen is confirmed to play at the Wireless festival in London this summer at Jay-Z's request.The rapper became a fan of the singer when visiting the UK earlier this month, and now Allen is confirmed to play before his slot at the Hyde Park event on July 4. Mr Hudson also plays that day.The event also takes place on July 2 and 3. Pink, The Ting Tings, The Temper Trap and Gossip are confirmed to play on July 2.

Allen's debut album, Alright, Still, was released as a limited-edition 12" vinyl in the UK on 3 July 2006; the full CD release followed in the UK and the rest of Europe on 17 July 2006. The album features between 11 and 14 tracks most of which were previewed on her MySpace page,including the singles "Smile", "LDN", "Knock 'Em Out", and "Alfie". "Friday Night", co-written with Jonny Bull, was also included, alongside "Littlest Things" produced by Mark Ronson, help earn Ronson a "Producer of the Year – Non Classical" 2008.

Wireless Festival - Introduction

The Wireless Festival is a music festival in England that takes place every year in Hyde Park, London, and took place at Harewood House, Leeds in 2006 and 2007. It is owned and managed by Live Nation.The line-up for the 2009 festival including Basement Jaxx, The Streets, Dizzee Rascal, Paul Oakenfold, Metric, Jack Peñate, Saint Etienne, Afrika Bambaataa & the Soulsonic Force, Frankmusik, Sneaky Sound System, N.A.S.A., Tommy Sparks, Delphic, Filthy Dukes, Digitalism, Skint & Demoralised, Master Shortie, Japanese Popstars, Phenomenal Handclap Band to rock the floor of UK.The 2010 Wireless Festival will take place from 2 July to 4 July 2010. Pink has been announced to headline the festival on Friday 2 July, with The Ting Tings and Gossip also playing on the same day.Rapper Eminent is expected to headline one of the days although this has not yet been officially confirmed by the festival organizers.

Wireless Festival - History

The first festival took place in June 2005 and was in Hyde Park only. The headliners were New Order, Basement Jaxx, Keane and Kasabian, and the festival took place on the 24, 25, 29 and 30 June. Other bands playing included Echo & the Bunnymen, JJ72, Moby, The Rakes, Supergrass, Ladytron, Martha Wainwright, Peter Doherty, The Bravery, and M.I.A.

In 2006 the festival played in both Hyde Park and Harewood House.The Hyde Park festival ran from 21 June to 25 June and on the bill were (headline acts in bold):The Strokes, Belle & Sebastian, Dirty Pretty Things, Super Furry Animals, The Raconteurs, Gogol Bordello, The Sounds David Gray, Fun Lovin' Criminals, KT Tunstall, Violent Femmes Massive Attack, The Flaming Lips, Pharrell, Gnarls Barkley, Metric, Damian MarleyThe Harewood House festival ran from 24 June to 25 June 2006.

Tickets for both venues went on sale on March 16, 2007 and the festival took place between June 14-17 in Hyde Park, and June 15-17 at Harewood House. The 2008 O2 Wireless Festival spanned 4 days in Hyde Park. An attempt to hold a parallel festival in Leeds similar to the Reading and Leeds Festivals arrangement was unsuccessful, and instead a variety of club nights featuring billed artists were held.Wireless will be staged for the sixth consecutive year in 2010, sponsored by Barclaycard. Previous headliners at the festival, which features four stages, include the White Stripes, Kanye West, Morrissey, Fatboy Slim and Daft Punk."

Wireless Festival - Gossip Confirmed Lineup

Gossip have been added to the bill of Wireless festival this July.The band will play the gig in London's Hyde Park on July 2 – the same day as Pink and The Ting Tings. The three-day event is set to continue over the weekend, ending on July 4 (though no other acts have been announced at present

The punk group - fronted by Beth Ditto - will play the three-day event in London's Hyde Park on Friday, July 2.The Standing In The Way Of Control act are the third name to be confirmed, after Pink was revealed as the festival's first-ever female headliner, and the Ting Tings were also announced as being on the line-up.
